Thumb rules for CODE DANS+ for creators

Before you sign up, it’s important to know if CODE DANS + and the open call for creatos is suiting for you.

Can you tick off all the points?

  • This open call from CODE DANS + is aimed at creators who are creating something for the first time, ambitious creators, and pre-professional creators. You can find more information about the target groups here
  • CODE DANS + is looking for dance projects that take place outside the “black box” of the theater and foster the creator’s growth and development.
  • The performance takes place at a non-traditional dance venue. (In other words, not in a theater or a traditional dance studio.) For a dance short film, the footage is shot outside the black box.
  • The presentation of your project will take place on 1 March 2027 at the earliest, and the project must be completed by 1 December 2027.
  • The applicant is+ 18 years old and lives in Flanders or Brussels. When financial support is received on behalf of an organisation (such as a non-profit organisation), its headquarters must be located in Flanders or Brussels.

Who is not eligible?

  • Individuals or organizations that receive funding in the professional arts
  • School projects, graduation projects, and private initiatives with commercial purposes

Which costs are not eligible?

  • Investment costs, fixed costs (EGW, telephone…), advertising via Meta, foreign travel costs & purchasing from unethical companies
  • Investment costs may be incurred, but they do not equate to the full amount of the financial support. You put in a request, and we’ll see what’s possible.

Selection

  • Individuals or organizations applying for CODE DANS support for the first time will be given priority over those who have already received support in previous editions.
  • Danspunt’s MaakPlaats and CODE DANS+ cannot be combined in the same year. After completing a MaakPlaats program, you may apply to CODE DANS+ the following year, but not the other way around.
  • External experts, in collaboration with Danspunt and Radar Mechelen, will select 15 projects to be supported in 2027.

Practical arrangements

  • If you participate in CODE DANS+, your work may be photographed or filmed and appear on Danspunt’s social media.
  • You must mention the logo of CODE DANS + and the Flemish Government on every publication (print and online).
  • You may apply for additional funding for this project from other organizations. However, you must be transparent about this and mention it in your CODE DANS+ application. In the final accounting, there may be no double financing; in other words, each cost can only be claimed from one organization. In any case, clearly explain what you need these additional funds for.
  • Danspunt and Radar Mechelen provide the support, you are responsible for the practical organization, the management of your budget, the communication about your showing and the audience!
