To what extent can humans claim mastery over nature? Many souls venture arrogantly into nature, never to be seen again, and many exploit the elements for their own gain. ‘Skogsekon’ is a Swedish word that can be literally translated as ‘echoes of the forest’. The forest is ancient, has seen it all and knows everything that will happen again and again. In this dance performance, Gabrielle Johansson and Vittra Pole Collective return to her Swedish roots to tell a story about nature. The fairy tale of Princess Tuvstarr and her moose forms the central theme for a journey through the woods, where she encounters creatures such as the vittra, the näcken and the skogsrå. During this journey, she learns that humans should not simply go about their business wherever they please.

In the spring of 2025, Gabrielle Johansson, known on the stage as ‘Bellesque’, founded the Vittra Pole Collective with the aim of telling stories through pole dancing. With a background spanning no less than 17 years in classical ballet, she drew on this inspiration to create group dances in which synchronised and layered movements alternate. Alongside choreographer and dancer Gabrielle Johansson, the dancers in this edition are Eline Fabris, Emilie Van Laere, Manon Van Mullem, Carolina Pérez and Rachel Warden.
