A laid table. A ritual.
In (Ab)Dis, eight dancers examine everyday customs, inspired by the Abbey of Herkenrode.
Nature and life and the pressure of humankind. The dancers toy with the movement and the physical aspects of rituals and set them in a new context. Familiar parts and corners of the abbey site are reinterpreted. Will we end up with a new ritual of our own?
Sarah Vingerhoets studied contemporary dance as a post-graduate at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance in Leeds, UK. She then joined D.A.N.C.E. (Dance Apprentice Network aCross Europe), where she worked with the choreographers Frédéric Flamand, Angelin Preljocaj, Wayne McGregor and William Forsythe. Back in Belgium, her love of dance theatre led to site-specific work. She mainly dances in the open air and in site-specific productions for companies such as Theater Tol, Cie Woest, Keski.e.space, Vloeistof and Originally Fake. She has also worked as a teacher for a number of years. She and the participants will investigate their own way of moving, with a particular focus on intention.
