This dance performance tells the story of a life with and around epilepsy. A shivering head, a motionless arm or a shaking body. Where do these physically exhausting and at the same time absurd yet vulnerable movements take a body?
How does that happen when you are occasionally away from here?
It results in an intense and powerful choreography brought by a group of dynamic dancers.
[For Sylvester - 5 years]
Sandrine Wouters (1997) is a dancer and choreographer. From the moving body, she creates visual images and creates choreographies that stay with you. Sandrine started dancing when she was 5 years old and went on to study dance at the age of 12 at the! Kunsthumaniora van Wilrijk. She is proud alumni of the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp where she obtained her bachelor of dance in 2018 and her educational bachelor of dance in 2021.
Since 2019, she has been creating her own work. In 2020, she received the award for best young choreographer from Youth & Dance with her very first own choreography Anthurium. Sandrine already created for the Royal Museum of Fine Arts of Antwerp, the youth company H-Arts Compagnie, several music videos for artists and solo work for different dancers.
In addition to creating choreography, Sandrine strongly believes in making dance more accessible and inclusive for all ages and social classes. Thus, she created a concept in which she gives movement workshops to children in poverty and introduces them to different movement techniques and culture.
Sandrine is also the organizer of the free arts festival Kunst onder de BOOMen that takes place annually at the Schorre in Boom. EVEN WEG is a powerful dance performance about a life with and around epilepsy, brought to you by a group of dynamic dancers.
