Zaaien en dansen (Sowing and dancing) is an ambitious project wherein 33 dancers; amateurs and professionals, Walloons and Flemings, perform in 4 different Belgian cities during one weekend to put the themes of agriculture and the climate crisis on the map. The 10-minute piece will be performed multiple times in each city, in public, to make as many people aware of these issues as possible. The collaboration between Greenpeace Belgium, CNCD-11.11.11. and choreographer Pierre Bastin also wants to make 'The Farmer Case' more visible: the story of Hugues Falys - a farmer from Hainaut, who is suing TotalEnergies for their share in the climate crisis. (https://www.thefarmercase.be)
The project mixes dance and activism, agriculture and resistance, to arrive to a confronting yet hopeful result. The story of Hugues Falys brings forth many things: the small can stand up against the big Goliaths.

About Pierre Bastin

Pierre Bastin was born in 1998 in Verviers (Belgium) and is currently living in Brussels. He studied at De!Kunsthumaniora in Antwerp before continuing his studies at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp, where he graduated in 2020. During his final year, he had the opportunity to participate in the creation of Jan Martens’ piece "any attempt will end in crushed bodies and shattered bones;" as an understudy, and furthermore took part of the tour. In 2020 Pierre also co-founded the Sidewards collective. Several projects have emerged from their collaboration: different dance performances, as well as two editions of Founteinfest: a festival about female pleasure. Pierre also participated on the creation of Tuur Marinus’ piece Th lng gdby. He further worked in 2023 with Vera Tussing in the restaging of "The palm of your hand" and joined the cast of "Exit above" by Rosas/ Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker. In 2025 Pierre worked on "Hacked", a hybrid clusterfuck where film, AI and dance are conflicting one another as described by Danielle Huyghe, the maker of the piece. He is also part of the cast of "THE DOG DAYS ARE OVER 2.0", the recreating of Jan Martens’ eponymous performance.

With a big heart for the environment and agriculture, he also wants to make ecology and environmental justice more accessible and understandable within the (cultural) world. After creating "After all", a solo performance touching upon those subjects; he made a new duet called "Porous" with Isabella Arboleda, exploring further notions around ecology, social justice and nature. He regularly works with Greenpeace Belgium to implant art and dance in their actions as well.

Pierre is currently supported by Bal special, a nonprofit organisation based in Liège, where he works, teaches and creates together with youngsters from 12 till 22 years old.
