Iter is a transdisciplinary exploration that weaves together dance, science fiction, storytelling, and afrofuturist aesthetics to question our humanity and possible futures. At the intersection of technology and tradition, this performance immerses the audience in a dystopian universe where a dialogue unfolds between a black Guyanese woman and a humanoid extraterrestrial.

Through this encounter, themes of communication, persuasion, and ecological and social challenges intertwine in a deeply emotional exchange. This "work in progress" seeks to explore the tensions between reason and emotion, human and extraterrestrial logic, while incorporating visual and auditory elements inspired by afrofuturist aesthetics.

Still in development, this project offers a sensory journey where dance and storytelling converge to evoke beauty, resilience, and hope.

About Magdelaine Hodebourg

My name is Magdelaine Hodebourg. I was born in French Guiana and started studying ballet at the age of 8. In 2006, I moved to the South of France. Throughout my education, I continued studying classical ballet, modern dance, and jazz at various schools across Europe. This journey began in Avignon, then Carpentras, Paris, and later Lausanne in Switzerland. I trained at the Conservatoire d'Avignon, the Compagnie Temps de Flèche, the American Academy of Dance in Paris, and Rudra Béjart in Switzerland.
In 2018, I started a contemporary dance training program at La Nuova Officina della Danza in Turin, Italy, where I studied for a year. This eventually led me to London and finally to Belgium, where I spent three years studying in the bachelor’s program at P.A.R.T.S. During my studies, I discovered a personal curiosity for choreography. Since then, I have created three choreographies that have been presented to the public. Iter is my first professional choreographic project, supported by Danspunt and the DJSCS Guyane.
