DanceLOV

Dansvloer Leuven

The result of this project, a dazzling DanceLOV video, will have its festive premiere during the annual Dansvloerfestival, where dance performances take place continuously from 10.00 to 19.00. It’s the perfect opportunity to discover DanceLOV on the big screen for the first time, together with the Leuven dance community and the public.

DanceLOV is a dance film that showcases the richness and diversity of Leuven’s dance scene. Dancers of all ages, backgrounds, styles and abilities come together in a single collaborative creation, with Leuven as the backdrop.

DanceLOV highlights the wealth of dance talent in the city and what emerges when different dance worlds come together. The focus is not on competition, but on connection.

A special moment within the project is the Belgian record for dance improvisation. A large group of dancers come together and, without any set choreography, allow themselves to be guided by the same music at the same time. Each with their own movement language and background, yet united in a single collective moment. The record brings to life what DanceLOV stands for: giving space to individuality whilst experiencing the power of moving together.

The film is an ode to dance, to Leuven and, above all, to the people who move together there. DanceLOV takes dance beyond the walls of the dance school, the studio or the stage and showcases the energy and diversity of Leuven’s dance community to a wide audience.

One city. Hundreds of dancers. Countless movements. One shared love of dance.

About Dansvloer Leuven

Dansvloer is an accessible and inclusive dance platform that brings together the wider dance community in Leuven and the surrounding region. The initiative creates space for interaction, participation and artistic exchange between dancers, dance schools, creators and organisations, across all ages, styles and levels.

By offering both amateur and (pre-)professional dancers a stage and visibility, Dansvloer fosters talent development, active cultural participation and cross-fertilisation within the local dance scene. The focus is not on competition, but on connection: participants are given the opportunity to discover each other’s work, encourage one another and become part of a wider dance community.

In this way, Dansvloer contributes to an accessible, inclusive and sustainable cultural ecosystem in which dance takes centre stage both as an art form and as a means of bringing people together and building community.
