In a world that revolves around performance, efficiency and a packed schedule, we all lose sight of the joy in life from time to time. But what happens if we stop seeing life as a series of obligations and start seeing it as a game? Gamechanger by choreographer Kelly Vanneste invites you to rediscover that playful freedom.
On stage, a game unfolds featuring two 2.5-metre-high referee’s chairs and two performers. Their supple bodies find their way through the metal framework of the chairs, encountering various challenges along the way. In an energetic blend of dance, partnering and acrobatics, the performers challenge each other and themselves to break free from high expectations and that critical inner voice.
The performance is a constant sequence of action and reaction, in which cooperation and opposition alternate. The tall chairs seem like an obstacle, but also turn out to be an opportunity: a chance to climb, jump and literally reach new heights. Gamechanger inspires you to look at your own challenges in a different light.
A performance for anyone who wants to swap the pressure of ‘having to’ for the freedom of ‘playing’ for a while.

Gamechanger is the second full-length production by Alienated, the Kortrijk/Tilburg-based dance company led by choreographer Kelly Vanneste and artistic director Martijn Schipper. In their performances, they explore social developments before offering a fresh and positive perspective on them. The body takes centre stage: Alienated is constantly seeking ways to challenge the body, including through the use of objects. They are known for a pure movement language that combines contemporary dance, intensive partner work and acrobatic tricks.
