Dancer Aaricia grew up between Meetjesland and India. Her childhood was colored by green polders, dancing poplars, and the colorful heat of the Rajasthan desert. Together with sound artist Tristan Visser, she built her dance sound boxes this year, adding a new dimension to the sound she evokes with her rhythmic footwork.

Tristan, who grew up on the island of Terschelling (NL), blends his guitar music with sounds from nature. For this performance, Aaricia and Tristan went on a sound exploration: literally in the fields of Meetjesland, but also in the memories and imagination of Aaricia's childhood between different landscapes.

Do you feel what I'm saying? (Voel je wat ik zeg?) tells the story of their joint search for creative and human connection across artistic boundaries. Expect a surprising encounter of complex Indian rhythms, graceful dance, cheerful guitar melodies, and experimental sounds.

About Aaricia Ponnet & Tristan Visser

Aaricia Ponnet

Dancer and researcher Aaricia Ponnet grew up between Meetjesland and Rajasthan (India). She specialized in North Indian dance forms under the guidance of Maya Sapera and Guru Shila Mehta, and obtained a PhD in linguistics. In her artistic practice, she explores dance as a language and searches for connections between movement, sound, and human experience. Since 2022, she has been working as an independent creator, developing performances that explore the boundaries between dance, language, and music.

Tristan Visser

Musician and sound artist Tristan Visser explores the relationship between humans and the ocean through music and field recording. His work takes him from the Wadden Sea to the Arctic, where he sought musical interaction with whales and became acquainted with Inuit musical traditions. He has collaborated with David Rothenberg, among others, and developed projects such as Onder Water and Arctic Mirage. With his guitar playing and nature sounds, he creates soundscapes that bridge the gap between science and art.
